| The area around Bois Bourdet is an angler's paradise. As well as the Marais Poitevin, you can fish in the Sèvre-Niortaise, Nantaise, Thouet and Argenton rivers. A fishing permit for the lakes and rivers in the locality can be purchased locally.
Bois Bourdet is also close to Pescalis - a centre dedicated to fresh water fishing. The centre has 100 hectares of water with carp, black bass, pike, trout and sheatfish. It is open all year round and is perfect for beginners and experts alike.

| Bois Bourdet is just five miles away from the historic town of St-Maixent-l'Ecole. The farmhouse is in an idyllic rural setting near the village of Souvigné, which is less than 10 minutes away from shops, supermarkets, boulangeries and markets. Further afield are the well known towns of La Rochelle, Cognac & Poitiers with impressive history and architecture.

| There are six excellent golf courses in the area. The closest is "Le Château des Forges" which is just a 20-minute drive away. The course (27 holes, 6500m, par 72) is unspoilt scenery at its very best. It covers 110 hectares of gently rolling countryside with meadows, lakes, streams and thickets in quiet, peaceful surroundings. It is an unusual course to play because it was designed as three interchangeable 9-hole courses. These can then be played as three completely different 18-hole courses. "Le Château des Forges" is open every day of the year except Christmas Day.
